With the start of March, we also start a new stage in the church. I know many people have different beliefs and customs that they follow, so I will like to share this part of my beliefs and customs with you. People might say, "Oh, why are you talking about this?" or "You should just say nothing". But my faith is more than just my Sunday-workship-from-9-to-3. My faith is part of who I am, and I want to share it.
As you might know, I have three goals in life: To be good, to be useful, and to be grateful. Where did these goals come from? My faith.
I have also talked about my goals for this year, in particular, my communication skills (speaking - more than anything else). Where do these come from? My faith.
I am not a saint and I make mistakes everyday. I know I am a stubborn, reserved, and often unemotional being on the outside, but I wish to change these habits so to connect better with people. Where does this desire come from? My faith.
To tell you the truth, my desire for change comes not only from the common sense thoughts and logic, but also from how I view the world through the eyes of God.
When I think about it, at the end of our lives, what is really going to matter? How are you going to be remembered? You will be remembered by the connection you had with people. You will be remembered by the impact of your actions.
So, whomever it is or whatever it is you worship, if it teaches you the importance of forgiveness, love, compassion, gratefulness, and respect, you have what you need to be happy in life.
Study your profession, earn the income you need to survive, be comfortable in life, and always seek to better yourself. But don't forget what is truly the center of your life. The center of your life is love. Without it, you will turn into a very hard, cold, stone.
That is all I have, really. Oh, right! Back to my church event :) With the start of Lent, we begin a period of reflection and forgiveness. You can think of it as a meditation period where we look inward to our faults and try to understand how to change them. During this time, I hope to continue looking inward into my character to understand the changes that need to take place.
We are always on a rising-learning curve, so always seek to change and create something new. My faith helps me create these changes. What helps you change and adapt to the world? Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas!
Be strong, be unique, and step outside of your comfort zone!
