For the next month of July, I want you and I to perform random acts of kindness.
Sounds simple, right? Well, there are four weeks in the month, so each week you will choose one act of kindness to perform. These can range from cooking breakfast every morning for your family to leaving "thank you" notes on people's cars without them knowing.
My four acts of kindness will be:
1) Greeting My Parents! - I have the bad habit of not saying "good morning" or asking "how was your day?" whenever I meet my parents. I wish to create a better habit, and make my parents happy.
2) Learning Appreciation with Siblings - Young people are sometimes so focused on their virtual reality (Facebook, video games, the Internet) that they forget to find themselves. I wish to remind my siblings and I about gratefulness and appreciation for life by getting each morning together, and writing on a white board a list of things we are thankful for that day.
3) Thank You Cards! - The third week, I will be writing "thank you" cards and giving them out to people at stores like Walmart, Target, small businesses, and homeless people. I wish to show my appreciation for their work and remind someone that they are special.
4) CD's Handout! - I love music, and I think I can make someone's day special by sharing the power of music with them. The last week, I will be burning CD's with a collection of songs that I think are inspirational. I will leave the CD's on people's cars or at a bench or anywhere people might see them. I will leave a note saying, "Hello, this CD contains an important message. Take a listen, and enjoy!".
What will be your four random acts of kindness? Write them down, and commit to them! I hope you and I can grow through our commitment to perform one good deed every week.
Be strong, be unique, and step out of your comfort zone!
