Today's quote resonates quite well with the person I am (or think I am :). I might not be precisely your greatest leader, but I am also not your best follower. I like to lead by example and follow those people I respect. It is when I am in a relationship of equals, of growth - where I am able to express myself and learn from others - that I believe the greatest tasks can be achieved.
So many people in this life are in a constant battle to compete and surpass others. People want to have the best life at the expense of others. People want to make the best and greatest invention. People want to win every competition. People want to get the best grade or the highest raise. And sometimes, people end up doing these things with greed, and jealously, and with just bad intentions overall. It shouldn't be like that.
I believe it is good wanting to have the best life. I want to make the best and greatest invention. I want to win every competition I am in. I want to get the highest grade and the best raise. But I want to do all these things with a good heart. My goal in the end is not the end product, but the growth change I have had to endure to get to the end.
We are all in this life called to lead and follow. We are, definitely, all called in this life to be a friend. The relationships that we make are the most important thing we could ever strive to form in our lifetime. That is our end goal.
Not everyone is going to have the same goal in life. Not everyone is going to get where they need to be at the same time. Not everyone has the same process of growth and development. Society wants is to believe that. Society wants us to think that we have a planned check-list. But, we don't.
I know the person I want to be. I want to be good, useful, and grateful. I have planned to be that person. I have planned to be a friend to the new day. I have planned to continue growing and learning. I have planned to walk beside you and be your friend.
Will I solve all of your problems? Probably not. Will anyone in this world [cough, cough] solve your problems? No! But it is the support and constant moving forward - together - that gives us the answers. So, get up, stand, up, and seek to make something great today. Be a leader. Be a follower. Be a friend.
Be strong, be unique, and step outside of your comfort zone!
