Some days ago I read an article listing the top 13 regrets people in their 30's start having, either because of insecurity and fear or simply because they don't think it is important at that moment in their lives.
Some of those regrets were being afraid to start a romantic relationship, not having children, forgetting our parents, choosing the wrong major, poor finances, health issues, loneliness, travel, and worry.
As such, here is my proposition for you: Choose on type of regret that you are feeling right now (or maybe one that you will think you might feel in the future) and create a new habit to fix it.
For example, I will choose this summer to fix my worry state of being. The amount of time that I spend worrying over things that I have no control over takes a big toll on me. My worry also has the side effects of making me cranky with my family and friends, and it leads me aways from being fit and craving solitude.
Therefore, this summer I am going to fix many aspects of my life simply by targeting my worry. Anytime that I feel that I am becoming anxious, I will take deep breaths and concentrate on what the problem actually is. I will ask myself whether it is something that I can change or not. If I can change it, then I will simply take time to brainstorm ideas. If not, then I will let it be.
Also, I will intent to work more on my meditation and conversation skills. I tend to bottle everything inside of me without telling others what I really am feeling or thinking. I will work very hard this summer to open up through healthy conversations with my family and friends.
So, are you ready to change your attitude this summer? I will be with you along the way, too! Fighting!
Be brave, be unique, and step outside of your comfort zone!
