But today, I wish to talk about something more important: Grit. I already have a post on grit, but today I want to extrapolate on the idea of grit and Henry's quote from above.
Remember: Grit is your power to persevere following your passion, and leading a life towards fulfillment, because you are striving to achieve your goal.
I have been reading a lot on perseverance, the secrets to success and many more books (If you are interested, I can compile a list of them). Through these readings, I have come to the conclusion that through life you will have many people influence you, many experiences affect you, and many obstacles and victories to see, but in the end the only person who will have a say in anything about your life style and decisions is you.
Truly, whether you think you can or can't do something is up to you. Yes, it is very cheesy to say so, or maybe you are thinking that you've been hearing it your entire life. But, do you truly understand the implications?
At this moment in life, are you happy were you are or are you wishing to do something? If you are happy, keep doing what you are doing. If not, then you need to think that you can make a difference in your own life and act!
If it is easy to come up with excuses for not doing something, then you need to reassess your goals and your drive to achieve them. It is not that you are not capable, but rather that you have not created a well defined plan system to follow through to reach your top level goal.
It is all about concrete and decisive and meditative planning. You have to plan!
I believe in life we must have a top level goal, our purpose in life (for me it is: To be good, to be useful, and to be grateful), and our lower level goals are created in order to reach those goals (working for an environmental company, teaching Sunday school, volunteering, spending time with family). What is your life philosophy? And what is your plan to reach there?
Remember, don't live life with regrets that will hunt you forever and ever. Decide to act now on your plans. How? Well, I will talk about how to realize that next week. The first step is always the hardest, but it only requires one thing: Planning (on paper!).
Stay tuned for next week! I hope you have an amazing week! Start thinking about your goals.
Be strong, be unique, and step out of your comfort zone!
