I want to share with you a story of a man who decided to change, and that made all the difference in his life. His name is Sam Polk, and he used to work at Wall Street making billions of dollars. That had always been his dream, and what his dad had instilled in him as a child: To be successful you need to become rich. And he did.
However, even after he had achieved this, he felt empty inside. He didn't like the Wall Street culture either with their demoralizing view of women and greed for more and more money. As he recounted, he sought out a spiritual guidance that gave him the strength to do what he was most afraid to do: Leave.
He left Wall Street with no plans, no job, and no idea what he was going to do. It left him feeling vulnerable and useless. However, is was through this process that he began to acknowledge his actual value. He began to realize that it wasn't his job title or money that gave him value. His simply being made him a valuable person. As he puts it:
"Our culture tells us that what is valuable is money, power, and fame, but the truth is, the only thing that really matters is our relationships, the people in our lives we love and who love us".
He ended up moving to Los Angeles and creating an organization to help the less privileged families. He also volunteers in jails and around the community. He has completely embraced a new way of life.
There is a link to an interview made with him down below! Check it out!
Tell me, when you hold a baby in your arms, why do you love him and think he is beautiful? Simply because he is. He has no other qualifications, but immediately you know he has value. You have value, too. Don't be afraid to know that!
Be strong, be unique, and step out of your comfort zone!
