Toxic people. I know what you are thinking. Toxic people are like rainy days - sticky, stubborn, and insensible. We just don't like them! They have so much negativity, or complains, or just plain selfishness that they repel everyone and everything EVERYDAY. We don't want them!
But, let me ask you: Have you ever been a toxic person? Before we immediately jump to conclusions about someone, let us ask the reason for their behavior. We as humans are happy and good people. It is only when our insecurities, failures, and frustrations get the better of us, that we decide to act out of malice or disinterest. So, what can we do? Here are some tips:
1) Keep a distance, but don't ignore them. We understand they can be, well, toxic to be around. They can affect our moods and actions. So, try not to get emotionally involved, but at the same time, be a helping hand if they decide to change.
2) Don't let them get to you. Be yourself. Understand that maybe they have gone are are going through a difficult time in their lives, and that is why they act in that way. Be true to yourself and your values, and don't be afraid to show you need your personal space.
3) Smile. People are generally attracted to good things. Maybe the toxic person just needs a change of heart. Show them that you know how to be constant in your life through your positivity. If they like it and decide to change, you will be a good example for them to follow. If they still don't wish to approach you, then let them be.
Most times when we read about toxic people, the comments make them appear as if they are these monsters that were born to make our lives miserable. But, I dare to disagree. How many people consider you a toxic person? Always think about this when dealing with this kind of situation. I believe the trick is to not get emotionally attached, but to be an example to them of what attitudes they should have in life.
What do you think? Feel free to leave any comments and share your thoughts! Have a great week everyone!
Be strong, be unique, and step out of your comfort zone!
