To start off, I want to encourage everyone to watch BBC's masterpiece To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters. If you have read my posts before, I have often mentioned the name Bronte. They are three wonderful sisters who achieved becoming icons through time. In an attempt to defy the conventional social standards of the 19th century, the three Bronte sisters used their art of writing to make their voice heard throughout the world.
The BBC movie features the story of the three sisters as they struggle to make themselves heard in a world full of oppression for women. Their novels are depictions of the cultural structure of the time, the distortions and mental disorders that often went overlooked in families, and the struggles to find true love in life.
If you have PBS at home, you will have the opportunity to watch it this Sunday night during their Masterpiece platform. I hope you enjoy (I'll be watching it with you!).
I have attached a short trailer about the movie down below, as well as a longer documentary about the sister's lives. Tell me what you think! Do you have any role models who fought or are fighting to make their voice heard, too? What did they fight for? What did they do?
Also, to finish (or to start, really) the best weekend of our lives (we don't know if we'll be alive next week), I have a song to share by the artist Fanny Lu. Her new song is titled Llorar Es Una Locura, which translates into There Is No Point In Crying. The music is catchy and uplifting, with a melody set for a good dance. The music video is also uplifting, showing the world how being yourself is the best you can do for your life.
Enjoy!
