Surrender to the pain. Surrender to the moment. I came across a reading the other day talking about the idea that when we stop resisting something - when we surrender to the something - we stop giving it power.
The idea comes from the martial arts of aikido. It is a self defense technique in which you use the energy of the opponent to attack. In a way, you are letting the actions of the attacker approach you, and then you find the correct moment and position to use that attack against them. I think the idea is quite powerful, if implemented in our everyday life.
Surrender heightens perceptions. Imagine holding a filled glass of water in one hand, and an empty glass on the other. If we are angry and stressed, we appear as the person who is holding both glasses with a strongly tight hold. It is harder to differentiate the two weights from each other when holding both glasses so tightly. On the other hand, when we relax our hold on the glasses, it is easier for us to know what is in both glasses. With our hands loose, we can feel the glasses better. Surrender heightens perception.
Imaging having this peace of mind and this open view of the world through in our everyday life actions. Having disempowered what threatens to do us the most harm (a job interview, a school exam, a first date, first day of school, etc.), we are shored up with the knowledge that nothing else truly can. We become a body that embraces possibilities.
I don't believe it is good to keep your emotions bottled up inside of you. Instead, immerse in them, feel them, understand them, and then use those realizations to move on with your daily life. Surrender to the moments and experience the essence of what it means to life a full life. Only then can you truly know what is the change you need to make.
I hope you guys have a great rest of your week! Don't fear what you don't know. instead, surrender!
Be strong, be unique, and step out of you comfort zone!
