Last week, I finished off with the idea that love is the answer to fighting off our illusions and lies. Why do I say love can do this? I will give you three examples:
1) If you haven't watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie that came out last year, I recommend you do! It is about the time when Holmes, already in his 80's, has nothing left to do. He has become useless, because of a case many years back in which he failed. He failed, because he didn't understand love as a young, analytical professional. However, all of that turns around, when the little boy with whom he has been living and teaching everyday, is almost at his deathbed. Holmes realizes how the little boy means so much to him, because of all the special moments they have shared, during Holmes's difficult old age. Holmes at an old age learns the value of friendship, appreciation, and innocence. Holmes wants to protect him. Love always protects.
2) What about the Stephen Hawkins movie? Have you watched it? I recommend it, too! I was literally crying a river of tears at the last scene of the movie. We all believe Hawkins to be a self-centered, knowledge digger, and concentrated on only one thing: His discoveries in the sciences. However, the movie takes a different perspective, and we are able to observed his more personal side: How his disease took a toll on his wife, his children, and his love for life. At the end, Hawkins decides to leave his wife in order to let her breathe and have a different life with a man who can support her emotionally and physically. But, in the last scene, when the family is all together and they are watching their children play, Hawkins looks at his wife and with a smile says, "Look at what we have made...". Hawkins did what he did for his family. Love is not self-seeking.
3) Finally, after reading the Harry Potter's series, you can truly say that love is the main essential ingredient in peoples's lives. It is their love for each other, their love for justice, their love to protect, their love to endure all things that come in their way that allows them to stay together and achieve their goals. Love never fails.
Now, my views may be a little childish or simplistic, but isn't that what life is? Be good, be useful, and be grateful: Be the essence of love, and keep going. I hope you have a wonderful start of the month. Feel free to leave your comments down below, and share with someone!
