I just let the feeling grow. You know, I don't think there are good or bad feelings. All feelings are simply there to tell you something about yourself. So, instead of trying to resist, what if you simply - and mindfully - try to understand what that feeling is without judgment?
The important thing is to not act on that feeling immediately. Whether it is anger, happiness, anxiousness, optimism, or anything else, try first to simply absorb the moment. Write it down, play music, dance, kick something, record your words. Then, pause, and let your mind calm down. Be mindful and find something to do.
I know this is easier said than done, and I have a lot to work on, but it is worth it. I think. At least that is what I have read in books. And then I remember, I have gotten this far in life, and many times I didn't know what was coming next, either. This is just another hurdler to jump. Let's see where it will take me.
