And that got me thinking: could this actually work in real life? I mean, the movie and kicks look pretty amazing, but if this was happening in real life ,I don't think the actions would go as smoothly as they appear. But, it is fun to watch anyways.
Although we may not be able to use the moves as smoothly as they appear in the movie, the act of training to be able to perform those moves is a feat in itself. This summer I am training to become better at my flexibility and also to be able to perform a jump spin hook kick. I am trying to keep a regular schedule of stretching everyday (at least five minutes), and for the kick I am trying to correct my jump and tuck in my kicking leg, so that I can swing it more as I turn.
It's been hard, but after about two to three weeks (practicing three times a week) I have been able to perform a rough representation of the kick. I am able to keep my balance and turn around and kick, but I still want to work on my high jump. If you are sparring, this is a great kick to use for the head (I'll put a link below to a tutorial I am watching). I think it is a great kick, and if you can become as flexible and agile at doing it, I think you would have accomplished a lot.
And my flexibility, well, I am still trying. I have always been negligent of this part of my training, but at the stage that I am in, I can pretty surely say, that if you are flexible it can make your life much more easier. So don't skip this part! Practice!
It is nice watching movies like The Kick, because it gets me pumped up and more excited about what I am doing (I don't know if anybody else feels motivated like that sometimes). Just by watching the movie I feel I have worked out :p
I chose to practice these two things, because I felt I was lacking on them, so I took up the challenge, and I don't regret it.
Life begins when you step out of your comfort zone :)
Have a nice day, everyone!!
